Are you seeking truth or escape in your life?
Life seems so hard sometimes that we become overwhelmed in the circumstances of day to day living and forget that we we have a never failing friend and Father in Heaven who always "Has our back."He is always near to us watching, waiting and often intervening in our circumstances in order to show us His great love and understanding.
As children of God, we often fall short of accepting the wonderful things that He has to offer each of us because instead of standing firm and facing the truth of our situations and circumstances, we turn around and run searching for any escape route that will lead us out of our pain.
Often, it is a pill for emotional pain to subside our anxieties or numerous medications for physical pain, which could be the result of an accident or aging or even years of abuses that we put on our physical bodies like smoking, drinking to excess or physical assertion that is not meant for our human bodies to endure.
Yet, as we are in the midst of our pain, we find it increasingly hard if not impossible to turn to the only One who can help us.
Our pain becomes a stronghold in our minds and bodies and we are left feeling helpless - seeking any kind of escape --
even UNGODLY escape as long as it relieves us of our hindrance - our fear, anxiety, physical or emotional pain. Some people turn to sinful sexual desires to fulfill a hurt caused by a failing relationship, so they seek out whoever ever they can find to give an immediate release to their pain -- someone who will even for a short time make them feel loved again.
Some people find themselves among a group of peers that seek to destroy anyone who crosses their path -- these people are lost and seek to hurt anyone who does not understand their pain -- they seek like minded persons who they can identify with. Some people even feel so lost and distraught that they seek eternal escape through suicide.
Perhaps you know someone who is on or has been in theseplaces in their life.
As children of God, who are living life on His earth, we are all going to face difficult times and circumstances that cause pain --both emotional and physical pain from minor illnesses to major diseases.
Let us remember to look to Him in truth instead of trying to escape.
God, our Father in Heaven, is always there to help us.
In his love for us he gave us the ability to make choices -- the choice to know him, to love in his truth and to love faithful and trusting in His care for us -and our well being.
He created us and knows our pain, understands our iniquity and the inability of our human minds to conquer strongholds when we are faced with life changing events.
I am reminded of the father of the demon afflicted boy in Mark 9:24.
Distraught and feeling overcome with his anxiety and distress for his son, he knew he was lacking in faith and he cried out to our lord asking:
Help my unbelief, Mark 9:24. This was an expression of humility. If my faith is defective, supply what is lacking. Help me to overcome my unbelief. Let not the defect of my faith be in the way of this blessing.
The man had faith, but asked for it to be increased, so as to make it proper that Jesus should interpose in his behalf, and save his child.
Even the disciples had tried to heal the child and were unable to do so.The affliction appeared fixed and lasting. The disciples, seeing the obstinacy of the case - seeing that he was a deaf-mute, wasted away, torn, and foaming - despaired of being able to cure him. They lacked the faith which was necessary;and doubted whether they could cure him. Later, in their questions to Jesus they asked why this happened, and Jesus replied To the disciples, because of their unbelief, they could not cure him Matthew 17:20.
How often do we walk in unfaithfulness to our Lord, lacking in the belief that He is forever faithful to us? - Has our back in all situations -- good and bad!!
How often do we fail to walk in the truth of His Word?
"Know therefore that the Lord thy God, He is God, the faithful God" (Deut. 7:9).
We as Christians can all rest assured that God is with us...always there. He is assuring us through His Word,
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, Your God...” (Isaiah 43:2-3, NIV).
My prayer for today is that we may all rejoice in the truth of our Lord, remembering that He is ever present and waiting for us to run to Him for the comfort and understanding He gives. I pray that when any of us are overwhelmed by life's pain and unforeseen circumstances that we seek escape in God's arms and do not seek out the unGodly ways of the world to ease our pain. In Jesus name, Amen
Rejoice with me that He is always with you and me to carry us through.......all situations to a glorious end. Praises to His Holy Name and Blessings to you!!
