HEAVENLY THOUGHTS

When God calls us home ...a gift of discernment. 1 Cor. 12:10

1 Cor. 12:10 - The Spirit gives one person the power to work miracles; to another, the gift of speaking God’s message; and to yet another, the ability to tell the difference between gifts that come from the Spirit and those that do not. ….
Several years ago when my grandmother passed away, I had the opportunity to be in the room with my mother and my aunt.  As they sat at her bedside, I sat in a chair near the foot of her bed.  She had been ill for quite some time and we had been called when her breathing had changed and it was evident that she really did not have very many hours left to live on this earth. She had been unable to communicate for quite some time and this made it extremely difficult for my mom and aunt, as all they could do was stay by her side. They held her hand and caressing her, told her that they loved her.  And although she was unable to respond back to them and her body was transitioning from physical life on this earth to her heavenly home, I could tell that she was fully aware of the presence of each of us in the room.
It was a hard experience, one filled with anguish and grief and the feeling of loss of a mother so dear.  She had worked as a teacher for many years and  touched the lives of many people in the community with her love, fairness and ability to see all people as children of God and teach them according to their needs.  She was truly a faithful servant of our Lord.
Almost immediately after my grandmother took her last breath, I felt what must have been a doorway open up in the spiritual realm. I could feel good and I could feel evil. And it was as if the two were just opposite each other - one filled with beautiful light and the glory of God and the other filled with darkness and evil.  I am unsure of how long it lasted, perhaps just seconds, although to me it seemed longer as I was mesmerized in the experience.   It was not scary or fearful in any way and I remember just sitting there quietly in the experience.
And then it was over, the doorway closed and I experienced an overwhelming sense of peace and love.  I can only imagine the beautiful light that lit my Grandmother's path as she walked into the glorious presence of Jesus.   And I am thankful to God, my Father in Heaven for allowing me the discernment to be in her journey.  I experienced the glory of God in a small room as my Grandmother lay in a bed, her physical body struggling just seconds before He called her home.
As my mother and my aunt cried and hugged, I remained quietly in the chair at the foot of her bed.  God was there with each of us.
The peace He gave me on that day remains with me still.
His love is never ending, His grace is sustaining and His power is awesome. And it is comforting to know that when He calls us home and the door opens up in the spiritual realm and good and evil are battling, if we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He will meet us in the midst with His glorious light and walk us into the eternal presence of life everlasting in Heaven.
My prayer for today is that we as God's children seek to find Him in
every situation.  And as good and evil remain opposite each other in this world and the spiritual realm, let us remember that God's love sustains us and His power is unmatched, and His glory is forever.
Blessings to all in Jesus precious name, Amen.
