Beware of that little game of hooks!

I am writing this post from  position of experience with what I now call  "that little game of hooks" that the devil plays.  Being the father of lies, pride and arrogance, the devil surely is a huge problem to mankind and our relationship with our Lord. God's word tells us that leviathan, that serpent creature, can't be drawn out with a hook, can't be tamed, or subdued.  Will he make soft words unto thee?  No way!  The words of this creature is extreme harshness, anger and he finds joy in tormenting the gentle ones of God.

In Job 41, we learn that leviathan is not a creature that we want to deal with.  He has great strength, shoots smoke and fire from his mouth and nostrils and he has scales that are so closely connected that they are like an armor that cannot be penetrated by sword or arrow. We are told if we lay a hand on him, we will remember the battle and do no more.

Leviathan is the spirit Pride and in this we find extreme narcissism and disobedience to all things pertaining to God.  I didn't know until it came into my life and a battle ensued and I found myself fighting to survive.  The trials and torments of living with  person who operates in the spirit of leviathan and narcissism is chaotic and confusing, cold-hearted  and blatantly evil.

I was gentle in spirit, seeking to live in freedom and loving Jesus all the days of my life.  I thought I had found my life partner and we would walk in ministry together.  However, in a very short time, I began to experience this person saying the harshest words of condemnation, hatred and vileness towards me.  And, as I walked in gentleness and a desire to help everyone, I began to seek to minister God's truth to this person that I  had trusted and loved and I desired to see him set free from the "supposed" bondage that he was under.

Suddenly, I found myself in "the game of hooks".  And I can surely tell you today that it is a most evil plot and scheme of the enemy of our Lord to take down ministries, divide families and emotionally murder innocent souls.  I eventually discovered that it was me that the enemy was seeking to put into bondage... to stop my ministry and to hurt me or even kill me..

Day after day, this person who was so close to me, came to me with a new problem, a new confession.  Sometimes, the experiences he told of were so bizarre and traumatic, that my compassion for him in those experiences left me in tears, as I sat and prayed with him.  And each day, he seemed to be freed from that one issue, but another always came along.  He began calling them "hooks".  He would come to me and tell me that he had another "hook" and ask me to help him get free.  As a pastor and counselor, I didn't even hesitate to tell him "no."

It saddens me to say that eight years went by very quickly.  I eventually started calling those "little hooks"  lies.  They were just too bizarre for me to believe any longer and one day I heard God speak loudly that they were lies and  they could have only been conjured up in the pit of hell.

Not so long ago, I began to see "that little  game of hooks" that I was drawn into to get my loved one out of bondage,  was actually intended to hurt me, to get me to take my eyes off of Jesus.  This man's problems (hooks) were my distraction.  And although, I continually ministered to him about the truth of God's word and the importance of true repentance and accepting Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior, I saw his daily false repentance and fit throwing, yelling and screaming.  It came to a time that I didn't want to stay with this man, but I didn't know how to leave him,  either.  So, I stayed...

Now, in this...some final thoughts and words.  As the spirit of leviathan comes through the narcissist to take ownership of our life, we must be like Job and turn and recognize who God is in His magnificent Glory.  We know in our heart that we must return to God.  And in doing so, we must know that we, too, will be restored....as Job was restored from all that we lost in "that little game of hooks" that the devil plays.

Being the father of lies, pride and arrogance, the devil surely is a huge problem to mankind and our relationship with our Lord. God's word tells us that leviathan, that serpent creature, can't be drawn out with a hook, can't be tamed, or subdued.  Will he make soft words unto thee?  No way!  The words of this creature are extreme harshness, anger and he finds joy in tormenting the gentle ones of God.

When we turn to our Father God, the battle ends. God takes over,  as we submit to His beautiful restoration.

My prayer for today.

Father God. We trust You and we turn turn from ALL that is not of you.  In our experience with the battle of leviathan,  we turn to you, my Lord.  We turn our back on leviathan, pride, on narcissism , on disobedience.  Humbly, on our knees Lord , we ask your forgiveness for tolerating this evil spirit and ask you to rid this spirit of leviathan and narcissism from our lives forever.  Thank you, Father God, for calling our hearts back unto Yourself and for the restoration You have for us. We claim our portion and blessings as we walk forward out of the darkness and into the to light. Thank you for hearing our prayer and thank you that you have never left us. Thank you for the days to come as Your promises to us are fulfilled in your Glory.  It is indeed You loves us the Most!

Love and blessings to All in Jesus' Name.  .Amen.

Job 41

41 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?

Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?

Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?

Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?

Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?

Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?

Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.

Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?

10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?

11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.

12 I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.

13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?

14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.

15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.

16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.

17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.

18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.

20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.

21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

22 In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.

23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.

24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.

25 When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.

26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.

27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.

28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.

29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.

30 Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.

31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.

32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.

33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.

34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
