Chicken feed ... Matt. 4:4

Mat 4:4 (KJV)  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Chicken feed is generally thrown out on the ground as a flock of chickens hurriedly scurry about to eat every crumb.  They leave the ground bare with nothing left until the next feeding time and the same chickens hurriedly scurry around pecking at the ground until every crumb tossed by the farmer's hand is consumed.
 Then once again as nothing is left, they remain hungry until the farmer returns again at feeding time.  This routine is repeated over and over again in a chickens life until it dies or meets an untimely death as a food source for those higher in the food chain.
 It seems that as humans living on this earth, we resemble chickens from time to time.
 Some people resemble chickens all of the time.
 We are hungry  -devouring every morsel of this earthly life, continually waiting for the next big feed.
  We wait day after day for the farmer to throw some food our way.
Just as the chickens are dependent on the farmer, we should be living our lives dependent on
God, our Father in Heaven.
We need His food and we thirst for His Word.
But how many of us are so caught up in the routine of daily life that we fail to recognize where our spiritual food comes from?
 As chickens see the farmer and anticipate his arrival with food, do we as humans do the same with God?
I think not.
 At least not as much as we should.
The Bible is God's true word, spoken for each of us in order to show us how to live full and productive lives.
Mat 4:4 (KJV)  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
God's Word assures us that we as His children are more like eagles than chickens.
Isiah 40:25-31 explains this to us:
 “To whom will you compare me?
   Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
   Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
   and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
   not one of them is missing.
  Why do you complain, Jacob?
   Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the LORD;
   my cause is disregarded by my God”?
Do you not know?
   Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
   the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
   and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
   and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
   and young men stumble and fall;
those who hope in the LORD
   will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
   they will run and not grow weary,
   they will walk and not be faint.
Just as the chickens  need to be fed daily by the farmer, we as God's children need to be fed by His Word daily.
This puts us in a proper place to receive His blessings and to truly experience all He has to offer each one of us.
My prayer for each of God's children is to take time each day to feed on His Holy Word and to welcome the blessed nourishment that He bestows upon His children in their desire to know Him and praise His name.
 Blessings to all~~
 In Jesus Name , Amen.
