2018...a new beginning Isaiah 2, Psalm 118:8

Once again we have ended a year and rejoiced in the coming of a new year.
It is January 1. 2018.
Tradition has it that people ring in the new year with joy and thankfulness that the last year has passed and look forward to a time of refreshing, new ambitions, new dreams, new hopes for a better future.
As the new year comes just one week after Christmas, it seems too often forgotten that the birth of Jesus brought forth a new thing, a time of rejoicing that the Savior of the world was born.
Still, at the time of the birth of Jesus, many people did not understand the importance of who Jesus was and still today, so many people do not have a true and real understanding of our Lord and Savior or His great love for mankind.
Humanity moves forward just as it has done for over 2000 years, with humankind seeking its own way apart from our Lord and savior, living in the world and for the world instead of in the world and for our God.

As God brought me to Isaiah 2:9 yesterday, I read the verse and then went on the read all of Isaiah 2.  In my reading, I found that  humanity as described by Isaiah is a great reflection of humanity as it is happening right now in today's world.
I remember months ago when I had a word of knowledge from our Lord which stated that God will turn all men's hearts unto him.  This is confirmed in Isaiah 2 and I believe that it is important to reflect on and understand that this year, 2018 is surely an important time as our Lord is seeking to bring the hearts of mankind back unto Himself.

Have you ever stopped to think. " Where have I placed my trust?"

Isaiah 2 encourages us to seek the Lord, to come to Him, praising Him and seeking His ways.
It speaks of those who are not seeking God, who are living pagan lifestyles, rich and worship idols; those whose worship is unto the world and not the One who created it.
Hasn't humanity indeed continued  to put its trust into worldly lifestyles that please the senses, fill the pocketbook and give a false sense of hope and joy?
Do you ever take the time to wonder...
Do I trust in God or am I trusting in man, in the ways of the world for fulfillment and satisfaction.?

God's word tells us about such things...

The last verse in Isaiah 2:21 states....
Stop trusting in mere humans,
    who have but a breath in their nostrils.
    Why hold them in esteem?

Psalm 118:8 tells us...
It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man.

Isaiah 2
 1This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:

2 In the last days
the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established
    as the highest of the mountains;
it will be exalted above the hills,
    and all nations will stream to it.

3 Many peoples will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
    to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
    so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law will go out from Zion,
    the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

4 He will judge between the nations
    and will settle disputes for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
    and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
    nor will they train for war anymore.

5 Come, descendants of Jacob,
    let us walk in the light of the Lord.

6 You, Lord, have abandoned your people,
    the descendants of Jacob.
They are full of superstitions from the East;
    they practice divination like the Philistines
    and embrace pagan customs.

7 Their land is full of silver and gold;
    there is no end to their treasures.
Their land is full of horses;
    there is no end to their chariots.

8 Their land is full of idols;
    they bow down to the work of their hands,
    to what their fingers have made.

9 So people will be brought low
    and everyone humbled—
    do not forgive them.

10 Go into the rocks, hide in the ground
    from the fearful presence of the Lord
    and the splendor of his majesty!

11 The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled
    and human pride brought low;
the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

12 The Lord Almighty has a day in store
    for all the proud and lofty,
for all that is exalted
    (and they will be humbled),

13 for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty,
    and all the oaks of Bashan,

14 for all the towering mountains
    and all the high hills,

15 for every lofty tower
    and every fortified wall,

16 for every trading ship
    and every stately vessel.

17 The arrogance of man will be brought low
    and human pride humbled;
the Lord alone will be exalted in that day,

18     and the idols will totally disappear.

19 People will flee to caves in the rocks
    and to holes in the ground
from the fearful presence of the Lord
    and the splendor of his majesty,
    when he rises to shake the earth.

20 In that day people will throw away
    to the moles and bats
their idols of silver and idols of gold,
    which they made to worship.

21 They will flee to caverns in the rocks
    and to the overhanging crags
from the fearful presence of the Lord
    and the splendor of his majesty,
    when he rises to shake the earth.

Stop trusting in mere humans,
    who have but a breath in their nostrils.
    Why hold them in esteem?

My prayer for today is that this new year ...2018 is truly a new beginning.
May we stop trusting in mere humans and hold them in esteem, but place our Lord and savior in His rightful place.  He alone is the one who seeks to love and care for us, place us in His protective care and provide for us a place that cannot be found in any cavern, rock, or cave.  May we worship Him and the splendor of His majesty and therefore receive the blessings that He has in store for those who truly desire to turn from the world and to live the experience of being  His people.  As His word state in vs. 17-18... The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day, and the idols will totally disappear.
If you haven't started yet perhaps you can join us now as 2018 begins...a new begnning...a new life...a new way...day after day --Let us praise our Father in Heaven!

Love and blessings to all in Jesus precious name
