God's Mysterious Ways

Patricia Ann, Originally posted on Saturday, June 21, 2014

I grew up hearing the expression, "God works in mysterious ways."
To me that always meant that God works mysteriously...like the things He does are to remain a mystery to us...as if we don't know why He would do something so awesome as to perform a miracle or save us from an accident or something other trial.
For unsaved humans, living in this world, it is in their nature to question the works of our Lord.  Many people feel undeserving of the love of our Father in Heaven. Because they do not know Him, they question who He is, His ability to love, and His willingness to do good things for anyone.
The phrase, "God works in mysterious ways," is not found in the Bible.
However, Scripture speaks of the mystery of our Lord.
Jeremiah 33:3 -'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'
Mark 4:11-12 (KJV)
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:  That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
Ephesians 3:9 -and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;
Colossians 2:2, 3 -that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Scripture shows us that our Father's ways are mysterious to those who do not know Him.
God loves each and every child of His creation and He is calling us into relationship with Him.
God's ways are mysterious to those who do not know Him, but His ways become glorious and awesome to those of us who have chosen to know Him.
Scripture tells us that when we come into relationship with our Lord through Jesus Christ as our Savior, "He will show us great and mighty things which we do not know."
I grew up believing that God worked in mysterious ways.
However, as I matured in Christ and I developed a deep relationship with my Lord, I began to see that His ways are not mysterious at all.
Just as our Lord tells us in Scripture, we receive the "... the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge and mystery of God."
His ways are no longer mysterious!
Everyday, as I look at the works of our God, I see His glory.
God's love shines in His creation.
His love shines in smiles, in "Hellos", in listening ears.
His love shines in compassion and in tears.
God's love shines in our fellowship with others, as we seek to share who He is with those who have yet to come into the full understanding of the knowledge and mystery of His great love for us as His children and in His great plan for each of us.
God's word is true.
He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'
How awesome is that?
Our Father in Heaven desires to come into relationship with each of us in order to give us answers.
God's ways are not mysterious.
Instead, the ways of our Lord are kept in a special place, awaiting those who seek Him; those who choose to come into relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ, the son.
My prayer for today is for all of God's children to seek His ways, to desire to know Him better and to come into the full understanding of the knowledge and mystery of our Lord.
He desires to share His mysteries with us, so that we no longer believe that He works in mysterious ways, but that He works in glorious ways.

I pray that those who are seeking more of God will receive all that He has to offer today and every day.
Blessings in Jesus precious Name, Amen.
If you are not in relationship with God and you wish to know Him, Scripture tells us in  (Romans 10:9)"... because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Paul prayed this prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21(ESV)
Prayer for Spiritual Strength:
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
