It is hard watching those you love grow older,
stumbling, sometimes falling, sometimes confused, sad or lonely.
It is hard watching, as they struggle with age
when the body grows old,
but the spirit inside still screams for youthful days.
It is hard to acknowledge that their needs so often go unmet,
and exceed anything you can do.
It is hard remembering the youthful days of strength and song,
that seems to be far gone.
But, the spirit inside is alive and well,
ready always to be nurtured with a kindness,
a listening ear, compassion and love.
And as I struggle watching my loved ones grow older,
I can only love them more.
